transfering videos from camcorder DCR HC-38E to computer using 4 pin to usb i link cable?
i installed the software of sony handycam DCR-HC38E into computer. then i fixed the i-link cable into the 4-pin jack of camcorder and 4 pin usb jack of the computer. the computer shows usb device not recognized. also the computer didnot find the handicam. tell me how can i transfer videos from camcorder to computer
Paul R is correct – one additional item:
Your computer must have a firewire port. Using a 4-pin-firewire-to-USB converter cable will not work. You must connect the camcorder’s DV port to the computer’s firewire port. No USB anywhere in this connection.
Firewire, i.LINK, IEEE1394 are all the same thing. They are not USB – USB cannot handle the streaming the is required for high quality DV format video from that miniDV tape based camcorder.
Since you did not tell us which computer, we have no way to know if it has an available expansion slot so you can add a firewire port… or if it already has a firewire (or 1394) port.
