Will removing the suitcase resonators at the rear of my Dodge charger/magnum increase or decrease my power?
My charger rt has the road and track performance group, which has a modified exhaust system and intake which give it 10 more ponies. I was thinking about removing the suitcase resonators and adding straight pipes and tip in place of them or adding a magnaflow/borla/flowmaster system. I know it will definitly sound louder and/or drone, but will it add more power then my road and track group exhaust? I took the resonator off my of 96 chevy caprice and added straight pipes, and the sound did’nt bother me at all. I don’t know if it gave me any real horsepower gains or not. but it seemed like it acclerated faster from a standstill position. I don’t plan on doing anything to my existing exhaust unless either of these mods will give me at least 10 more poines then my existing stock exhaust. Any comments/advice
the performance increase is minimal (not the 10 hp you are looking for)…the improved sound will make is seem faster.
fyi, the suitcase is the large muffler in the middle of the car and the resonators are in the back, close to the tips. If you remove the resonators you will get a drone.
check out www.lxforums.com for a ton of info on your car…if there is anything you are thinking about doing to this car or a question you have, it has probably been done or answered on this forum..it is great for the charger/magnum guys
